HOW TO DO EVERYTHING WITHOUT DOING EVERYTHING

…. hey, jack of all trade come closer.

Can you come a little closer?

Can you pay a special attention for the next 2 minutes?

I have something to tell you my fellow jack of all trade buddy.

There are some of us that can’t just stop dreaming of so many things simultaneously.

You have so many big goals you want to achieve.

Today, you want to tackle SDG 1.

Tomorrow, it is SDG 4.

Next week, it is SDG 13.

Then another time, it is SDG 17.

As you keep envisioning, you can’t seem to let go of one for one. Everything just seem so attached to you.

They all resonate so well with you that you want to create an impact.

Everyone keep telling you to focus on one so that you can be excellent.

They keep telling you how confused you are because you just can’t settle your mind on one thing.

You keep changing or bringing up new visions when you are not a chameleon.

You then begin to wonder, “am I really confused? Is it possible I don’t know what I am doing?”

Funny enough, you are not even excelling at anyone of them.

This now makes you come to an agreement with them that you have no clear direction then you drop everything.

One beautiful thing about we humans is our diversity. Some have the capability to only have one dream while some have the capability to have more than one dream.

For those who always tend to have multiple dreams are usually tempted to want to focus on multiple SDG goals at the same time and it’s normal because that is the way you are wired.

You’ve tried it but are unable to settle on just one goal.

You begin to wonder how the successful ones are able to do multiple things effortlessly.

Let’s take it STEP BY STEP;

πŸ”… Have Priorities: Nobody has anything figured out. They just have their priorities well set. It’s important you know clearly what you want and what is the most important to you in this season. That way you are not clouded and overwhelmed with the multiple goals that you have.

πŸ”…Create an umbrella: When you look closely at your social impact goals, there would definitely be a way to infuse them into one another. For instance you are passionate about education, children and climate change. You know, you can decide to empower children with education on climate change and train them on how to reduce the global warming in the society.

Just make one of the goals like a heading then make the rest sub-headings. This way, you have just one goal but expressing yourself through the other goals. Trust me, you are not confused, you know what you are doing! You are just so blessed to keep it to yourself.

πŸ”… One goal at a time: Train yourself to make your target each time be singular. Don’t try to achieve everything together. They would become clustered especially when you’ve not mastered the art of excellent management. Take it one by one. You can decide to do it monthly, quarterly or anyhow you prefer it. Just go at your pace and ensure you don’t dance to the noises that thinks you can’t do it.

Above all of these above mentioned, believe in yourself. You are so capable to accomplish all of it. It is a strength rather than a weakness that you have so many things you want to do.

Solving social issues in this present time requires people like you who are able to see solutions for more than one issue.

Creating social impact should not reduce you in anyway instead allow you use your uniqueness for humanity.

So many times, I’ve wished I’m like those who have just one talent or who just have one thing they want to do because I considered myself as a confused fellow since that’s the way others perceived me.

But, I decided to embrace this as a strength, gift, uniqueness, a great ability!

I consider it a privilege to have many things at heart that I want to do and I seek knowledge in helping me do everything well without even doing everything.

Don’t cage yourself.

Don’t limit yourself to the society standard of the way things have been.

Don’t be scared to be you especially when it’s for the good of the society.

Feeding the less privileged is not sustainable?

On the 28th of May 2022, I went along with a non-profit I volunteer for called TEAK Foundations for a charity event at Bariga(Lagos) to celebrate Children's day with the children in the area. Of what use is feeding them just once and for them to be hungry tomorrow "I often thought". It feels like a waste of time. It feels like they are not being helped. I often thought that they should be empowered if they are adults so they can begin to feed themselves and for children, it would be better if a farm or food bank can be created as this would be quite sustainable.  Looking at it from this angle would make you agree with me that charity events are not sustainable but does it make them unnecessary? No, it is still very important and valid. As a non-profit, we might not be able to scrap the daily hunger but we were able to leave them with an unforgettable experience for just that day, we were able to make them not hungry for just that one moment. All it takes for a life to be ...

Feeling unmotivated?

I love God (so she claims), and I want to live my life solely for God. Yet, she finds herself being indisciplined and doing things that either waste her time or are of no value. Yes, she knows the importance of having a well-structured priority list. She isn't even sure if getting easily distracted is her problem or if she is just confused. She has a vision. She has a goal. She has positive intentions. All of her intentions are for the benefit of mankind. Yet, she finds herself still going in circles and it seems like she isn't growing or going towards the fulfillment of her vision. What would you do if you are here? Or should I say, what would be your best advice to her? My Advice. Honestly, this can happen to anybody it happens to almost everybody including your favorite people. The only reason why you haven't noticed is that they were able to still do the needful despite these things that happens to them. The key here is Self - discipline. I'm usually blown away whe...

IT’S CLOSER TO YOU THAN YOU THINK

I’m never going to have dreams! Exclaimed by a little girl who was watching the TV with her parents one beautiful afternoon. She was seeing the news report about the result from the just concluded election and the lives that were lost from the whole process. Right there, she made a decision not to be involved in anything that has to do with contributing to the society. She would rather prefer being comfortable in her own house with her family and minding her business. Many youths are like this today. You don’t want to get involved. Everything is now SCAM as it’s popularly called in Nigeria today. We no longer believe anything neither do we want to believe. We’ve come to embrace the mentality of “anything that does not concern me does not concern me” I.e we’ve so much embraced a selfish mentality as long as we have food to eat. The truth is, it isn’t our fault! The dirty stereotype the society has painted in our faces are so green in our memory that we can’t erase it even if we wa...
